Covid vax prevented over 42 lakh deaths in India





                    New Delhi: Vaccines developed to fight Covid-19 helped prevent more than 42 lakh potential deaths in India in 2021, according to a mathematical modelling study published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal.


The estimates based on excess  deaths from 185 countries and territories showed that globally 19.8 million out of a potential 31.4 million Covid-19 fatalities were prevented in the first year of the vaccination programme.


A further 599,300 lives could have been saved if the World Health Organization's target of vaccinating 40 per cent of the population in each country with two or more doses by the end of 2021 had been met.

One of India’s most impressive achievements is gaining independence from industrially-produced trans fat in body  by committing to the WHO goal of  elimination by 2023. This artificial, toxic food  additive increases the risk of heart attack and death;  replacing it with healthier fats and oils does not  increase the cost or change the taste of food. When India gained independence in 1947, malnutrition and diseases such as tuberculosis  malaria, and enteric infections were leading killers. Average life expectancy  was just 32 years, and more than a quarter of children didn’t make it  to their fifth birthday. Since then, the country’s population  quadrupled, life expectancy more than doubled to 70 years, and  child mortality declined 85%.
